    Meditating Your Anxiety Away

    March 21st, 2010 by admin

People are always looking for a sure fire way to get rid of their anxiety. While there isn’t really just a single solution that will take away everyone’s worries meditation can work really well when it comes to getting rid of anxiety without any of the conventional treatments.

Meditation is a practice that goes back into the earlier times. Many people often used this to achieve inner peace and clear their minds of any negative thoughts. This practice used on anxiety allows you to do the same thing: calm your body and get rid of negative thoughts. As you are able to calm yourself down and gain composure, then the less anxiety you will feel. There are steps that you can follow to learn how to cure anxiety through meditation.

Find a quiet spot; when you experience anxiety being in a noisy and crowded place can only add to your stress. If you need to meditate look for a quiet place where you can concentrate and clear your mind of things. Avoid staying in a place where there will be disturbances like the telephone or television.
Sit down straight and don’t bend; although you want to have good posture make sure that you aren’t too stiff and are still comfortable. You may choose to do this on the floor, a chair or even on a bed or cushion. Position your hands on your lap
Close your eyes and try to loosen up for a brief moment. Don’t think of anything negative or any of your problems. In fact you should try and clear your mind of anything. Don’t let little thoughts get in the way and don’t let your mind wander about.
Breathe Properly. Much of your calming down and clearing of the mind will be brought about by the right breathing technique. The idea is for you to be able to start breathing rhythmically. Take a deep breath through your nose, hold it for a while then exhale through your mouth slowly. Do this a few times until it becomes natural.

Just keep in mind that meditation may not always be something that you can master all at once. It can be quite difficult to keep your mind off things; just keep practicing it and you will get the hang of it as time goes by. You don’t need to limit doing this when you have anxiety attacks. You can also practice this regularly to keep yourself stress free which can prevent anxiety from building up causing an attack.
