Lavender Essential Oil And How To Use It

    April 5th, 2010 by admin

Lavender has been a linchpin of the essential oil and perfumery universe for eons and its chronicle can be traced back beyond the Royal Families of Egypt and the philosophers of Ancient Greece.

Searching around the shelves of any high street shop it can be encountered in plenty – scenting talcs, soaps, shampoos, roomfreshners, and a hundred an one alternative wares. So this oil has a definite spot on the shelves of any oil buff or aromatherapy practitioner!

    The Oil Fundamental Principles

Lavender oil is an fundamental oil obtained by distillation from the bloom spikes

of particular species of lavender. Two strains are recognized, lavender flower oil, a neutral oil,

insoluble in water, having a concentration of 0.885 g/mL; and lavender spike oil, a distillation from the herb

Lavandula latifolia, having concentration 0.905 g/mL.

When buying Lavender watch to see which you are obtaining – Lavender Essential Oil or Lavender Spike Essential Oil – both are superb but lend themselves to more or less distinct usage (See below)

The Spike Oil has a somewhat hotter scent, with a top hot note which is absent from the Lavender Flower Oil and lends itself more to the stimulant effects of the oil.

    Handed-down Aromatherapy Advocated Uses

You only need to search along the shelves in Boots, Marks and Spencers and The Body Shop to see a host of proposed functions for the Lavender perfume, but traditionally it has been its tranquilizing and relaxing, as well as its ability to cut back stress and anxiety,

tones which have been held as its widest use.

One or two drops on an oil burner can produce a lulling effect within a room.

One or two drops on a tissue paper which is then set under the pillow can aid a slumbrous nights sleep

Put a couple of drops into the final wash or your laundry to give oyur washing a fresh natural and clean scent

Put a couple of drops of the Lavender Oil into a carrier oil and coalesce. Then add a few drops to your bathwater and savour an indulgant slumberous soak.

A few drops on a cloth which is then laid in your vaccuum bags will help odorize the room whils toyu do the housekeeping.

When examining add four or five drops to an oil burner to stimulate and refresh the mind and increase wakefulness!
