    How to Overcome Panic Attacks

    May 1st, 2010 by admin

People who experience panic attacks live in constant fear.   They know if they have a panic attack, they experience extreme fear,  the body functions take over, preventing normal reasons.  A person believes they are going crazy. The fear of experiencing another panic attack causes people to become depressed and become hermits. They fear leaving their homes.

To know how to overcome panic attacks, you have to know the reasons panic attacks occur. Prevention is the best way to overcome them.  By preventing a panic attack, you would never have to overcome one.  Plain and simple, panic attacks are caused by fear.  A person fears something so bad, the fear takes over a person’s physical and emotional well-being. The first step in overcoming panic attacks, is to identify your fears.

Once you have identified what is triggering your panic attacks, the next step in how to overcome panic attacks is making notes on how your thoughts begin to flow and start effecting your body.  Does your eyesight become blurry or your heart begins to beat faster.  Or do you experience rapid breathing?  There is direct correlation between fearful thoughts, a body reaction and going into a full-fledged panic attack.  By knowing your body is going into a panic attack, you can stop it.

Now if you identify that you are going into a panic attack, you need to relax to stop it from going any further.  Realize most panic attacks occur, because you blow it out proportion. Bring the situation back to being relative. Close you eyes, take deep breaths and relax.  Tell yourself millions of people have faced this before and nothing bad has happened. Why can’t you.  Open your eyes and relax.  The whole key to preventing a panic attack is through relaxation.

The final and last step in how to overcome panic attacks, is to confront your fears.  GO and face the thing that makes you scared.  Once you face it numerous times and realize it won’t hurt you, you will have nothing to fear.  Once the fear is conquered, you will be able to go on and never have to worry about it again.
