Guide To Overcome Panic Attacks The Natural Way
March 29th, 2010 by admin
If you can identify your triggers, and they are different for everyone, you will be that much closer to permanently overcome panic attacks. You must face them head on, as this will help you regain control over your emotions.
Keep a positive attitude when out in public or other places where you would normally experience an attack. If you go into a situation with apprehension, you are setting yourself up for another episode. Try to visualize a positive outcome even before you get where you are going.
Focus on the trigger, and stare it down. Do this in your mind when you are not in the situation but safe at home. You will condition your mind to see the attack for what it is and the next time you have this tool to overcome panic attacks before they hit.
It will take time to re-condition your mind, so take this slowly and deal with one episode at a time. Once you know that an attack cannot consume you, nothing bad is going to happen, because you wont let it, then you are well on your way to curing the episodes once and for all.
Breathe
When you feel an attack is imminent, stop and close your eyes as you concentrate on deep breathing. Inhale slowly, exhale. Know in your mind that this is going to pass, there is no danger. All is well. Use visual imagery to put yourself in a quiet, safe spot where nothing can touch you. This exercise will help you overcome panic attacks. Find your happy place and go there, or visualize a bright light surrounding you that nothing else can penetrate.
Meditation
This works for over-all feelings of well being throughout the day. Some may feel that meditation is silly, but you do not need any funky music or chanting in order to clear the mind, unless you want them. You can do short sessions on your lunch break during the day. Focus on inner peace and tranquility. Focus on the fact that you will overcome panic attacks.
There are CD’s available that contain relaxing music and use subliminal messages that can help to overcome panic attacks. The subconscious mind is very powerful, and since this is where the source of anxiety comes from, it makes sense to speak to the subconscious on its own level.
Getting more exercise can be beneficial as well, because exercise is known to reduce stress, and in turn can reduce anxiety. By using the above techniques often, you can avoid prescription drugs and their side effects. Only when a condition becomes so severe that one is forced into isolation should traditional treatments be considered.
By practicing your breathing, focusing on pleasant outcomes and keeping a positive attitude, you can overcome panic attacks for good.
